ASTM UAS Approved Training Provider Program (UATPP)

Through the UATPP, PACI provides third-party evaluation of the curriculum of industry training programs for compliance with ASTM International standards, primarily those voluntary consensus standards developed by F38, Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

As of 2021, the UATPP evaluates compliance with the following ASTM International standards:

F3266-18 Standard Guide for Training for Remote Pilot in Command of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Endorsement

F3330-18 Standard Specification for Training and the Development of Training Manuals for the UAS Operator

F3379-20 Standard Guide for Training for Public Safety Remote Pilot of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Endorsement (NEW)

This Committee addresses issues related to design, performance, quality acceptance tests, and safety monitoring for unmanned air vehicle systems. Stakeholders include manufactures of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and their components, federal agencies, design professionals, professional societies, maintenance professionals, trade associations, financial organizations, and academia.

The National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act of 1995 mandates that all federal agencies use technical standards developed and adopted by voluntary consensus standards bodies, as opposed to using government-unique standards.

The administrative fee for Initial ASTM UAS Approved Training Provider application is $750. Initial approval is valid for 2 years. Re-approval after 2 years will consist of a self-evaluation and ASTM International review. Subsequent re- approval will be required every 5 years thereafter. The administrative fee for re-approval is $250. For scheduling an application to the UATPP, follow this link, email PACI or call 702-586-1160 for payment arrangements.

ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards developing organizations in the world. We are a not-for-profit organization that provides a forum for the development and publication of international voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services. Our volunteer members represent producers, users, consumers, government, and academia from more than 140 countries. They develop technical documents that are the basis of manufacturing, management, procurement, codes and regulations for dozens of industry sectors.

ASTM volunteer members belong to one or more standards-writing committees, each of which covers a subject area such as steel, petroleum, medical devices, consumer products, nanotechnology, additive manufacturing and many more. These committees develop the more than 12,000 ASTM standards found on our site and in the 80-volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards.
